I am a School Counselor in middle school, mom of two (and in addition to the dogs, two humans). School Counseling is my dream job, and navigating the specifics of the hormonal and transitional middle school population is way more exciting and fun than I could have ever imagined. Add to that advising student leaders and administrators that give us the freedom to explore our limits, and I leave my office with a smile on my face even on my most taxing days.  But let’s get real- on some days, I come home unhinged and unfiltered. I call this lovingly, “inspiration”. In order to keep my cool, and not punish the world for my lack of patience, I like to partake in some weekend therapy: bad reality TV and crafty goodness.

So my goal is to focus here on things I am learning and publishing, tips I am finding useful, questions I am pondering, mistakes I am making, controversies I am considering, pretty things I am seeing, and craftiness I am making.  My art is a purge of prints inspired by places I go while on break to feel small, and a stream of odes for amazing family and friends who meet me there. Forever should the line between personal and professional blur in this business; the goal of Weekend Therapy is to exemplify that by creating beauties in one, will help me remember and love the beauties of the other.

  2. Hello! My name is Kasi VanSandt and I am a sexual violence prevention educator for my agency. I recently watched you on an edweb training and loved the conversation. A part of my job is to go to our schools within our service areas, and discuss important topics like consent, boundaries, empathy, etc. I would love to have a conversation with you about some ways to help parents and teachers learn to become better allies for their children. Even just adults in general having healthy tools to know how to be a trusted adult. Thank you for your consideration.

    1. Hello Kasi! I would absolutely love to connect! Are you one Twitter or LinkedIn? We could private message there and I can get you my e-mail so that we can work out a phone or Zoom time?
